Sel sailing their boat, Rhode Island based graphic designer

Hi there! My name’s Sel.

Nice to Meet You đź‘‹đź‘‹

I’ve built my life and my design practice around curiosity and growth. Whether I’m learning a new tool, experimenting with a fresh medium, or shaping a brand’s strategy, I thrive on pushing into new territory and expanding what’s possible. I’m based mostly in North Kingstown, RI, sometimes in Boston, MA, and occasionally in Shad Bay, Nova Scotia (Canada). But thanks to the internet, I’ve worked with people from all over the world. As a true lover of adventure and learning, my core ethos is to say yes as much as I can. Whether it’s seasonally living on a sailboat boat or teaching myself how to create and implement an animated Lottie file, I love to foster new and impactful experiences.

What can I do for you?

My background is in creative illustration, but I became a designer because I love to develop creative solutions to client problems. My versatile and human-centered approach to creative problem-solving is what sets my design practice apart. That means more than delivering visual assets—it means supporting business strategy, building reliable roadmap, and guiding rollout. I focus on the big picture: not just the design, but how and why it’s used, and the strategy that supports and strengthens it. Some of my clients come to me with a specific vision. Maybe they need to bring some fun to their website’s design, or they need to tap into the full tool belt of digital and print marketing services. Sometimes, the client and I are starting from scratch and we work together to articulate the brand vision. Wherever you are in the creative process, it’s my job to meet you there and help translate your vision into something purposeful, authentic, and lasting (and hopefully learn something along the way).

How do I show up beyond design?

The same values that guide my design practice—creativity, collaboration, and building systems that serve people—also guide how I give back to my community. Every month, I volunteer with organizations that are making a difference close to home:

  • Council member and social media manager of North Kingstown Arts Council, a town council supporting creative initiatives in North Kingstown, RI including free concerts and art installations.
  • Member of Rhode Island Transit Riders, a transit advocacy group focused especially on bus service in Rhode Island….
  • Member of GatherNK, a community group combining community potlucks with acts of service from trash pickups to food drives.

Volunteering keeps me connected to the people and places I care about, and reminds me that meaningful design—like meaningful community work—is all about creating experiences that serve others.
