    Brochure for Galoop Classes

    1. A Brochure That Hops Off the Page

Galoop is a warm, welcoming early education space where growth, play, and learning happen together. They host classes for children ages from 6 months to 4 years with their caregivers. Their unique program offers flexible schedules, diverse education and enrichment activities, bilingual story-times, and childhood development expert-backed care. After a working with Galoop’s founder, Cecilia, to refresh their website, she came back to me to design a brochure to cross-market the Galoop space in local businesses.

    2. Early Education Brochure Design

The brochure’s core goal was to explain what makes Galoop different from other early education spaces. Their ‘baby and me’ style is great for children and caregivers alike. We wanted to make sure the brochure could be used for years to come, so we focused on their core philosophy and their general class offerings. To bring some of Galoop’s whimsy into the brochure, I used playful holding shapes featuring some of the children and their caregivers having fun in the space. And for brand consistency, I incorporated some of the icons I had illustrated for the website project. I worked with Cecilia to determine the budget, materials, and production company.

    1. Pawsitive Pet Sitting

Amanda is a seasoned pet sitter, groomer, and animal care specialist. As she transitioned to a new role as a groomer in a cat hotel, she wanted to improve her physical marketing with a new business card to continue booking new pet sitting clients.

I designed a custom business card layout inspired by Amanda’s preference for modern and sleek design. We wanted to keep the design clean and professional, rather than the kitschy, maximalist design that’s common in set service spaces. We settled on a design with a custom illustrated pattern featuring cats, dogs, bunnies, and lizards to illustrate Amanda’s experience with all pets, not just cats & dogs.

    1. Magical Visuals: Branding and Illustration for LovelyDorrie

Dorrie Sacks, AKA LovelyDorrie is a writer, internet host, and voice actor. She commissioned me to design her a new business card, but this project quickly expanded into a full brand reimagining. As a digital host and social media personality, we wanted to create a digital persona she could use for profile pictures and a strong brand foundation she could apply to ventures like Twitch streams and brand partnerships.

    2. Pixel Art Illustrations

Taking inspiration from magical girl anime such as Sailor Moon and Madoka Magica, visual novel games like Doki Literature Club, and soft goth + lolita fashion, I illustrated a cute and whimsical heroine. This project required a keen eye for detail, and the final pixel art illustrations are full of references. Magical girl aesthetics often use cute aesthetics at the surface level, but the storylines often feature scary, grim, and tragic aspects. To achieve that blend of cute and creepy, I gave Magical Girl-Dorrie a microphone magic staff, a lolita maid’s dress, and is full of broken heart accents. I also just had to include her magical kitty sidekicks Pepper and Layla.

The logo is illustrated as if it was made of looping ribbons and evokes anime titles. For the business card itself, I was inspired by video game title screens.

Sel is an absolute joy to work with. When I commissioned them to create brand collateral for me, I knew I was in good hands because they care about getting every detail perfect. While working on the design, they sent me concept art and sketches so that I had a voice throughout the process. I am overjoyed with the results and I would absolutely work with them again.

    1. Continuum: Designing for the Boston University School of Visual Arts Thesis Show

Continuum is the 2018 BFA Thesis Show of Boston University School of Visual Arts. I worked with Olivia Gelard to generate the full brand identity and ad campaign for the show. We wanted to, first and foremost, represent the unity between the graphic design, painting, sculpture, and printmaking majors. Secondly, we wanted to pay homage to the 808 Gallery where the show was being hosted, since it would be undergoing major construction after our graduation. We managed the project from concept to execution, including budget management and coordinating with print studios to create physical collateral. Additionally, we curated the gallery layout, allocating spaces for each student’s work.

    2. Thesis Show Branding Design

Olivia and I centered the brand concept on the unity between all visual art forms. Often different creative disciplines are put in a confining box, like the assumption that all graphic design happens on computers or that a painter couldn’t also incorporate printmaking into their work. We wanted to challenge that idea by celebrating the versatility that unites all fine artists. We chose the name Continuum because we wanted to cement our graduating class within the vast continuum of fine artists throughout time.

    3. Print and Digital Marketing

Our primary visual influences were the patterns of floor tiles within the 808 gallery and möbius strips. We selected the colors and different shapes to represent each of the four visual art majors and developed patterns inspired by the gallery space to adorn the posters and event invitations. Möbius strips are the perfect visual metaphor for continuums. We used sheer acetate to create these strips and created compelling organic compositions using the sheets and their reflected shadows.

In addition to the various pieces of print collateral created and showcased below, we also knew we needed a web presence. To meet this need, I designed a responsive web version of our poster.
