The New England Science Writers is an organization connecting a diverse group of professionals who work in and around STEM. Their website had been neglected for years and now they were ready to start fresh.

The old NESW web infrastructure was clunky and difficult to manage. The backend was confusing and there wasn’t a lot of flexibility with the page design. I migrated their content and domain to Squarespace, which has an accessible backend and gives them room to grow for years to come.
I strengthened their brand presence by modernizing their visual system. I took a spacious and academic approach to the design, utilizing semi-formal humanistic serif headers and clean, readable body copy. I strategically employed stock imagery that tied into their logo’s navigation theme. After the site was launched, I ran a training session with board members ensuring they could update their new website with ease.
